About Jolina Capital

A private holding company rooted in the entrepreneurial history of the Saputo family

Jolina Capital Inc. is a private, multi-sector holding company headquartered in Montréal, Québec. Controlled by Emanuele (Lino) Saputo, the firm represents a generational evolution of entrepreneurial success, built on disciplined governance, responsible capital allocation, and a long-term investment mandate.

Our roots trace back to the Saputo family's early ventures in Montréal, which eventually grew into one of the world's largest dairy processing companies. As the family expanded its reach and responsibilities, the need for a dedicated investment structure emerged. Jolina Capital was created to safeguard long-term value, oversee strategic assets, and guide the next chapters of growth.

Today, Jolina Capital manages a diversified portfolio with deep operational footprints in dairy processing, forestry, industrial manufacturing, logistics, and private-equity–based investments. Our companies employ thousands of people across Canada and globally. We work with leadership teams to ensure disciplined decision-making, strategic clarity, and responsible growth.

What defines Jolina Capital is a long-term orientation. We invest in sectors that matter—sectors that support communities, enable national industries, and provide essential products and services. Our approach is measured, intentional, and grounded in long-term stability rather than rapid cycles or speculative ventures.

Our Journey

Corporate History

Today, Jolina Capital stands as a mature, multi-sector holding company with influence across Canadian and global industries.

1950s-1960s

Foundational Years

The origins of Jolina Capital trace back to the Saputo family's arrival in Montréal and the humble beginnings of their cheese-making enterprise. What began as a small operation grounded in craftsmanship and community trust would evolve into a global dairy company.

1970s-1980s

National Expansion

The 1970s and 1980s brought modernization, national expansion, and the development of industrial-scale operations. Saputo transformed from a regional producer into a national dairy leader.

1990s

Governance Formation

By the 1990s, Saputo's sustained success created the need for a formal entity to manage ownership, governance, and strategic long-term interests. Jolina Capital was established to oversee this expanding portfolio, ensure governance continuity, and guide future generations.

2000s

International Breakthrough

The early 2000s saw Saputo's international expansion into the United States, South America, and beyond. Jolina Capital formalized its governance structures and became an anchor of family stewardship.

Mid-2000s

Diversified Holdings

Mid-2000s expansion into forestry through the acquisition of Arbec Forest Products marked Jolina Capital's entrance into natural resource industries. In 2012, the acquisition of Tembec's OSB operations significantly expanded Arbec's footprint.

2010s-Present

Governance Maturity

Throughout the 2010s, Jolina Capital continued to diversify through strategic positions in essential industries such as transportation and logistics, while deepening governance practices, modernization initiatives, and sustainability frameworks.

Québec Heritage

Deeply Rooted in Québec

Jolina Capital is deeply rooted in Québec, a province that shaped our values, our culture, and our approach to business. Québec's tradition of craftsmanship, resilience, and community shaped the Saputo family's philosophy and continues to guide our mission today.

Our economic contribution spans dairy manufacturing, forestry operations, industrial services, and community support initiatives. We provide stable employment across multiple regions, support Québec-based suppliers, partner with agricultural and forestry communities, and contribute to the province's industrial and social infrastructure.

Québec is not only where we operate—it's part of who we are.

"Jolina Capital represents the synthesis of heritage and strategy—where family values meet institutional discipline, and where long-term thinking guides every decision."
